Although Dianabol for sale to the public did not make it to the US market until the around 1960, Russian pharmaceutical companies were producing it as early as the 1930s. In fact, Russian Olympic athletes caught the attention of a Maryland doctor during the 1960 games, and suspicion grew concerning their use of “elixirs” to boost their performance.
The Discovery of Testosterone
In 1889, Charles Brown-Sequard extracted compounds from the testicles of dogs and guinea pigs. He marketed this as a “rejuvenating elixir” and unlike many similar products in that era, this one actually worked. It was the very first product containing testosterone to make its way to the public. A few decades later, two men named Ruzicka and Butenandt earned a Nobel Prize in chemistry for successfully synthesizing testosterone in a laboratory. Thus began the era of anabolic steroids.
The First Accusations
It was not until 1952 that people accused Russian athletes of using testosterone to enhance their performance at the Olympic Games in Helsinki. Many people were in on these accusations, including athletes and coaches from other countries. One of these people, Dr. John Bosley Ziegler, a renowned Maryland physician specializing in sports medicine, claims that the Soviet Union wrestling team coach admitted to dosing his athletes with testosterone. Because the Russian team performed so well in the 1952 games, Ziegler decided to look into the matter further.
The Development of Dianabol by CIBA Pharmaceuticals
Many people mistakenly think that Dr. Ziegler developed Dianabol shortly after realizing how anabolic steroids boosted performance among the Russians, but this is not the case. He took his thoughts to a group of scientists, some of whom worked for CIBA, a Swiss pharmaceutical company. They worked tirelessly not only to develop the synthesized testosterone, but also to make it better. They did just that by removing a carbon atom from the molecular compound. In 1958, Dianabol made its grand entrance thanks to CIBA, and coaches gave it to the US Olympic weightlifting team who performed much better in the following games, even rivalling the Russians.
The Rise and Fall of Steroids in the Olympics
Now that the Russian and American teams were both performing extremely well in the Olympic Games, more and more countries started using it. Disaster began to strike, though, and some Olympic athletes died because of their steroid use. (Bear in mind that coaches knew little about proper doses at this time, though.) Throughout the next decade, many athletes, including the American Olympic track and field team, prepared for the 1968 Olympics with testosterone and its derivative, Dianabol. Seeing an unfair advantage and the deaths of a handful of athletes, the International Olympic Committee, or IOC, banned the use of steroids in the Olympics in 1975. Widespread testing began in 1978.
Although the benefits of Dianabol are numerous and this becomes obvious when reviewing Olympic athletic performances from 1952 to 1968, the IOC (and, since then, the US Government) banned Dianabol and other anabolic steroids due to the dangers associated with them – and the unfair advantage they gave certain athletes. Since then, anabolic steroids have remained the center of much controversy.
Although some people report getting results from unstacked Dbol cycles (using Dbol alone with nothing else), for most people, Dbol is merely a catalyst for large gains. As such, learning about the various types and lengths of Dbol cycles can help you determine which one is right for your body and your goals based upon the components that are available to you.
Adding Dbol to Stacks
Before you attempt any Dbol cycles at all, it is imperative for you to understand the recommended doses. Never exceed more than 50mg per day, and never take any dosage of Dbol for more than eight weeks. In order to guarantee your safety further, do not use more than 30mg per day for longer than six weeks. For example, if you want to take a 50mg per day dose of Dbol, use it for a period of about four weeks rather than eight. This helps ward off liver toxicity. What’s more, you can split Dbol up in your cycle. For instance, you may choose to use 50mg per day for four weeks right out of the gate, or you may use 30mg per day for the first four weeks, stop, and then add it again during the eighth week of the cycle.
The Base of Dbol Cycles
Dbol is not a primary anabolic steroid in most cases. Most of the time, it is added to a stack to kick-start gains or to help athletes hurdle the plateaus they often experience mid-cycle. The best base for Dbol cycles is always testosterone since it helps replace the testosterone that the body stops producing naturally, all while providing a potent combination for bigger gains and fewer side effects. You can choose testosterone enanthate, propionate, or cypionate – any of the three will do. A single ester compound like Sustanon-250 or Omnadren plays second fiddle, but works in a pinch nonetheless. Many men experience outstanding results with Dbol and testosterone alone.
Adding Other Steroids to the Cycle
Once you know how the Dbol and Testosterone cycle affects you, you can add another anabolic steroid to the cycle. Nandrolone steroids (Deca Durabolin or Durabolin) are best, and Trenbolone works well, too. All of these are incredibly powerful compounds, though, so if you are inexperienced with any of them, you should add them to your cycles gradually. This way, you can discover your body’s unique tolerance level, and if you experience bothersome dbol side effects, you will know exactly which compound caused them.
Creating the Perfect Cycle – An Example
An intermediate steroid user has plenty of options as far as Dbol cycles go, but there is generally an outline to follow in order to maintain safety. As a general rule of thumb, if you want to use Dbol to kick-start your cycle, do the following:
- Take Dbol for the first four to six weeks of the cycle along with your base.
- Continue the base, even after stopping the Dbol.
- If adding a second steroid to the Dbol cycle, introduce it after you stop taking the Dbol.
Conversely, if you want to use it as your mid-cycle plateau-buster:
- Take your first anabolic steroid along with the base for the first six weeks.
- If you reach a plateau (meaning that your gains level off for a week), stop taking the first steroid and implement a dose of about 25mg/day of Dbol for about four weeks. This should help you climb over that plateau.
Some people prefer Dbol as a kick-starter and a plateau-buster, but because you will need at least six weeks between the doses of Dbol, this is for advanced users only. To explain:
- Take Dbol at 20 to 30/day, along with the base, for four weeks to kick-start your gains.
- Stop taking Dbol at the start of the fifth week, and include a second anabolic steroid like Deca Durabolin or Trenbolone. Continue taking the base for the recommended timeframe.
- Six weeks after the final dose of Dbol, and after you have stopped your second anabolic steroid, you can implement Dbol again. This time, you may use 20 to 30mg/day for another four weeks or 50mg/day for two weeks to break through plateaus.
Bear in mind that all of the Dbol cycles and advice presented here are examples, and no one cycle works well for everyone. Your needs may differ somewhat. Always use Dbol, testosterone, and other anabolic steroids carefully and responsibly.
